I love making alpha bracelets but I dont know how long my background colored string needs to be. I also have tried just tieing from the skein but it tends to get tangled really easily. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep my string from tangling and/or how long my background colored string needs to be?

i typically use a whole skein of thread for my background and another full skein for my letter color. the background i just evenly divide the skein into how many strings i need. for my letter color i always wind the skein onto a bobbin. it's so much easier to work with that way and you can "lock" the string in place so it doesn't unravel.

garr just realized i reversed it. my letter color is divided evenly (or as evenly as possible) and my background is the one on the bobbin. i'm sorry
