I have never done something so complicated, but am very intrigued, and was wanting one with three x's on it. I'm not sure how I would go about that...I figure just make the the red ones really long, and after getting the three x's on it, just finishing off with the red. Would that be correct?...If anyone knows or could help me, I would appreciate it so much! thanks!!

Yes, that would work. However, if you wanted to make the 3 X's a bit more central, you might want to do some rows of just red at the start too. Yes, you will need the red threads to be longer than the others.
