Question about string order by Susanturtles 9 years ago

I am working on a pattern with many strings and the color order matters. how is there a way to tie that knot in the beginning when i start and have the colors be in the order they are supposed to be already? any way of laying them out before hand and then tying the knot to make it easier on the string order otherwise too many strings cross over each other and it looks super sloppy and i cant even see if the pattern is coming out right. please help! thanks!

I never start with one big knot :-)
You can do a few things:
- stick the strings, in the right order, to a piece of (paper-)tape
- attach the strings to a stick ( wooden stick or short knitting needle fi) with larksheadknots
- start with shaping instead of a straight start

There are several tutorials about different ways to start a bracelet, including:
(( How to... )) Safety Pin - Easy way to start bracelets.
(( Buckle )) Lark's Head Knot and Barnacle Knot Buckles
(( Buckle )) Half Hitch Knot
(( Bracelets )) Shaped Bracelet - Circle

I use the lark's head knot buckle.
