I've been making bracelets for awhile, but I was wondering if anybody has any tips on what kind of embroidery thread/string works best for normal patterns? I've noticed some threads create neater/cleaner knots than others. Thanks!

It all depends on your knotting and on how you like your knots to be. I use embroidery floss I buy on amazon most of the time (Kurtzy thread), but some knotters use different types that are as nice!
I know kleinevos uses crochet thread, and Sammoning acrylic thread, but both their bracelets are awesome.
Maybe you should try different types and see which one suits better your knotting :)

I have used many different strings over the years and I still like thin crochet yarn best :-)
You can use whatever works for you. I think it?s mainly the skills and also the pattern that makes the cleaner knots.
The only thing I can say is that I don?t like my strings to be too sloppy. And slippery strings are also not good. So far I have only tried one type of yarn that was too slippery to work with though.

I love embroidery thread

You can also get interesting results using multiple string types in the same bracelet. This is one I did using grey yarn, red and black DMC floss, and beading:
