ive never heard of a finger breaking, but the skin on my fingers is definitely cut, to the point where it almost looks like i have gills..

Broken finger?!?! Whew. That's not fun. :-( The most serious things I've gotten from bracelet tying is blisters, raw skin, that type of thing. But I have a tendency to pull tight. Maybe I need to watch out.
