I also like five colors with ten strings because I like to fold the string in half and make a loop on top and attach that to my water bottle.

So it would work too, if it had less colours but each colour had an even amount of strings?

There's a trick btw for when you have an uneven amount of strings and want to make a loop: You cut one string double the length, you split the string in half so you only have 3 of the 6 strands (embroidery floss usually can be split), fold that string in half and use both ends together as one string.
