Kumihimo: is there a way to add more thread? by esen_duckie last year

Send PM

I'm planning a project that involves making a very VERY long kumihimo braid (maybe a meter or longer) and I was wondering if anyone knows how to add more thread when the original is used up. (Or can recommend where to buy extra extra long thread!)

Thank you in advance!

You can use crochetthread or yarn. Adding while braiding is not a good idea. For a (normal round) kumihimo of a meter long you only need about 2,5 to 3 meters of thread btw, so a skein embroidery floss of 8 meters will be much more than enough.

I've made a meter long kumihimo with only half a skein length before. So like @kleinevos said, the regular amount you get with embroidery thread is good.
