RE : Private Beta - New website by kleinevos 4 years ago

Like it is now, the link to our generator is this:
https://friendship-bracelets.net/generators/normal

The link to the generator for moderators is the same, but with a number added:
https://friendship-bracelets.net/generators/normal/2 for example.

I tried using that last link on an iPad where I was not logged in. I could see it and use it. The only thing I could not do is save the pattern to our site. But I could enter any number, even numbers of rejected patterns.
So any person who adds that number can see every pattern we have.

For every user who only wants to change colors of an existing pattern for their own use, that’s good news. But if we want to protect copyrights and not have every rejected pattern visible for anyone, that’s bad news. And for us moderators that’s also bad news, because anyone (who is logged in) can easily save existing patterns with minor changes to our site.
That is the same as it was on the old site, but I thought that would be fixed on the new site.

And we have a tutorial where people could find the right link. I have removed that, because it was the link to the old site. (The old generator.) So if I edit it to provide the right link, everyone will know how to do this .....

So what we need is:
- The possibility for normal users to change colors without saving. (Or maybe you could add what Braceletbook has? You can save color-changes there as extra image on the pattern-page. It does not change the existing pattern, but adds images/thumbnails in different colors.)

- Make all rejected patterns invisible for anyone but moderators. Even with this generator link. (Maybe you can find a way to disable editing for rejected patterns? But when a pattern is changed to ‘accepted’ later on, it should be possible to edit it again.)

To add to this:
What we had was two different generators, existing patterns could only be put in the ‘alternative’ generator (which is now our current generator). People could not ‘guess’ the link. It was too different from the link to the generator on the generator-page.

I better understadand!

I'll check for something tonight.

@Nicolas: a user asks if
Is it possible to be notified again when someone attaches a photo to a pattern designed by her? It was like that at the old site.

RE : Private Beta - New website by fb101 4 years ago

@Celicia : Sorry I think I forgot to put a mod comment on the guestbook post. If I remember correctly the user's alias was something like dianis? I wrote her a PM to tell her it's added to the list but I mentionned we're prioritizing the new layout at the moment.

RE : Private Beta - New website by fb101 4 years ago

Here's what I'd suggest for the "pattern editor"... It's something that I think is both functional & not too time consuming to develop...

(All points below refer to the pattern editors where you can preload an existing pattern - example for normal patterns : https://friendship-bracelets.net/generators/normal/102722
1. I'd make sure only mods and authors can view patterns that have not been checked or were rejected.
2. When someone is viewing an existing pattern, the save buttons ("save changes to #..." and "Save new pattern") would ONLY be accessible if you're a mod. Otherwise no button accessible. Of course in "create new pattern mode" the registered users would be able to save.

There would be no effort made toward making users able to save their changes to an existing pattern at the moment (it's still in the wish list though, but to avoid duplicates we'll need to find an appropriate process & I'll need to develop it).

Let me know if it makes sense.

@Nicolas, yes, she is Dianis. Thank you.

1) Ok

2) Ok, when the user accesses the "generate" folder, he can save.
When they use the link https://friendship-bracelets.net/generators/normal/102722 with any pattern, they cannot save. Did I understand correctly?

3) I think the third part can wait (users save their variations) until you can find something to avoid duplicates.
The most important thing now is that they can change colors but cannot modify or save as a new pattern.

That sounds good, Nicolas.

RE : Private Beta - New website by Celicia 4 years ago

@Nicolas: I don't know what is happening but I have noticed that the system is disconnecting me. If I am idle for a couple of hours or more when I return I have to reconnect. This has been happening to me for a day or a day and a half, I'm not sure.

And someone mentioned recaptcha is failing again....
